I attended an English club this morning. This time, familiar learners, who are original members, took part in the club as well. I met one of them for the first time in 4 years and the other, who attends my workshop, joined us after several months absence.
There were 7 of us and a native guest. We read an article about Mongolia. I'm ashamed to say I'm not familiar with the culture, so it was an interesting. Luckily, the article wasn't hard to grasp the content nor was the author's opinion. To add to that, we talked about variety of topics, ranging from child care to mobsters, and chatted.
It goes without saying that time was like a flash. It wasn't enough for me...I'm still eager to have conversation time. lol (Yes, I'm always like that...haha)
Please give me another conversation class to release my enthusiasm for English! lol

It was a day when parents are allowed to visit classes today: it was a open day. This time, the class was swimming lesson. It was only 40 minutes, but I was happy to see my son's attitude during the lesson. :D He seemed to enjoy having the class to his heart's content because he had a smile on his face all whole time. ;D

After the open day, I decided to attend an English club, which is held on Thursday mornings a few times a month. I was supposed to be absent from the club this time, however, I couldn't restrain my enthusiasm for English. Right away, I contacted a representative whether I could join or not. :D

I joined in the middle of the lesson; nevertheless, I really enjoyed having the time with other members and a native guest. I wasn't satiated with my speaking ability, though... My speaking(talking) ability ticks me off...^^;

It was so cold today...(> <) As I'm sensitive to cold, this season is harsh to me. However, my enthusiasm for English never folds up. :D
This morning, I attended an English club. There were 6 of us and a native speaker, who usually joins as a guest and teacher, in spite of the severe weather.
This time, we talked about "Japlish": what we call Japanese-English (日本英語）. I had picked the article from a website.

In japan, there are many Japanese-English words and many Japanese believe some of the words aren't Japanese-English but English. I might have used some words...
Let me cite an example from the article.
When you ordered some drink at a cafe, you might have seen "single" or "double". They are mentioned the size of the cup. But, we should use "small", "medium" or "large". (Native speakers, of course, understand what they mean, though.)
I think, however, the kind of Japlish could confuse native speakers. For example, "シュークリーム" means a cream puff in Japan. (You might have heard of it, though.) We usually say "シュークリーム"; even famous sweet shops use the word...
Unless we know Japlish, we could be embarrassed, I think...

Have you ever seen or heard anything else?

We held an English club this morning. Luckily, there were 4 of us in total because I could have more chances to talk and ask any questions about English than usual.

Well, we picked a certain article, "Going on ten (years)...".
The author originally came to Japan due to work and signed up for just two years. She expected that it would take the first year to get her feet wet and by then it would be time to plan her next move. But, during her stay, her expat friends left after their assignment came to an end. She increasingly got restless and began to wonder why she was still here. Although it took a long time for her to accept the situation, she decided to make a conscious shift toward enjoying her life in Japan.
After that, she could make many local Japanese friends and spend a valuable time.

At the end of the time, we talked about the following, "What were we doing ten years ago."
How about you?
Me? uh... My boyfriends are ubiquitous..HAHA!! It's a joke. XD

This morning, I joined an English club after I took my son to his school. Usually, we hold the club on Thursday. However, it won't be convenient for the native speaker, who regularly takes part in, this Thursday, so we had the class today.

This time, a new visitor took part in our club. She's been to Australia so as to become a Japanese teacher for foreigners and was compelled to come back to Japan this year because she has to take care of her mother who has been out of shape. According to her, she also wants to brush up on her English skills and go back to Australia someday.
I was very moved by her speaking. She not only speaks English very fluently, but her pronunciation is also quite clear. I felt very comfortable. ;D I want to be as a good speaker as she is...
Yes! I should keep and keep practicing and emulate the ways of those speakers' speakings.

I'm looking forward to meeting her from now. :D
