What Should I Do?

I'd been swamped with translation assignments and chores as well as my English lessons, and finally I'm finished. As if I had been confined to my room for a few days....^^; Having said that, I'm really grateful to my company that they regularly give me assignments and appreciate my skills highly. Every time I try an assignment, I feel fulfilled.

At the same time, I've been vacillating between one who is satisfied with my current English skills and one who insists that I slog at getting a language certification or high scores on a test. In fact, some friends of mine have been striving for more language tests, and I respect them for their attitudes toward English. It's true that I was inspired thanks to them.
In addition, I know, of course, I don't have a perfect command of English and I'm trying to improve my skills. I mean that I should improve them as I don't stick to those kinds of tests but relax and have fun such as reading books, newspapers, having a natter with my fellow English-lovers and writing my journals in English.

Um...I should take it easy, shouldn't I...^^;

An Asymmetric Hairstyle

The spring-like sunlight was pouring into my house in contrast to the severe weather we had yesterday.
As I mentioned yesterday, I was supposed to take part in an open conversation class. However, I didn't make it because my car was so dirty due to yesterday's snow! > <;
I thought I would join the class after I went to a car wash. As you can easily imagine, there were a lot of waiting cars when I arrived there.....It took about an hour to wash it!
That's why I gave up taking part in the class this time... In addition, I had made an appointment to get my hair cut at noon, so after washing and drying it with a towel, I went right away to the beauty salon where I regularly go.

I like a unique hair style, so this time I decided on an asymmetric one. hehe
Are you particular about hairstyles or clothes?

Even Though There was Heavy Snow.....

Today, the first English workshop this year was held. I took part in it, of course. I had been looking forward to meeting all my members. Unfortunately my expectation fell short because it had snowed heavily and some of them could do nothing but pass up the workshop.

Even though it was the severe weather condition, there were six of us, including a native English speaker who regularly joins us. :) This time, a newcomer came as well. It takes some time for her to come by public transportation, I believe it was tiresome, though; nevertheless, she took the trouble to participate in today's workshop. ;)

During the workshop, we caught up on each other and got down to the article I had prepared.
In fact, the member whose it had been to prepare an article was absent from the workshop due to the bad weather, so I chose it in a hurry this morning. ^^;

I'm always saying, but I wanted to talk more. lol I'm taking part in an open conversation class tomorrow. hehe
Be that as it may, I was happy to meet the new and my regular members. ^^

Try the University Entrance Examination

I happen believe that those who are interested in English might have tried the annual examination- the university entrance examination given by the National Center, or センター試験 in Japanese.

The examination is held in two days in a row. The details of the examination held on each day are appeared in the papers of the following day.
As English examination was held yesterday, the details were placed in today's papers.

Every year, I try the exam, so I gave it a shot this year as well.
This is my subjective views, though, I thought it was easier than last year, long-passage questions in particular.

Well, as for the results, I made two mistakes, "loose" and "category". About the former, choosing the word which has a different pronunciation among the four choices. As to the latter, choosing the word which has a different accent among the four choices.
I should learn correct accents and pronunciations again.....^^;

The First Chat Class This Year

After three straight holidays, I had been swamped with translation assignments. Finally, I finished them and let my hair down.

Every Thursday is my day off, so I had planned to just relax and immerse myself in English such as English news, movies etc. However, I changed my mind and decided to take part in an open conversation class.
Luckily, the number of opportunities to write or read in English has been increasing. As for that of speaking, however, it hasn't. Although I speak English almost every day, it's not enough for me to improve. That's why I took part in the class this morning.

There were two of us, so I tried to talk in English to my heart's content. I happen think that I will be never satisfied with my skills , though, my speaking is still rusty. Aw...
I can, of course, communicate in English to a certain degree, but when it comes to "the quality", I have to admit that there's plenty of room for improvement.

But how? Do I go to a conversation school or take online lessons? Do I take more English workshops? I know that I should keep practicing, but where should I do and how should I do? I'm always cudgeling my brain, though, they're a real headache...

My Secret Pleasure

I often receive some packets from my company for my class such as posters, textbooks and so forth. When a delivery person rings my house, sometimes I'm away. At that time, an attempted delivery notice is put in my mail drop.
When we want to have them redelivered, we call the customer center directly or an automatic redelivery service.
As for the latter, an automatic procedure is offered in English as well. Yes, every time I receive the notice, I try the service. :)

I often call overseas on behalf of people who ask me, so it's a good practice for me to get used to listening to procedures in English.

If you have the notice, I bet it's well worth trying the service

Thank You for Letting Me Know.

Giving my English lesson yesterday, I got a text message from a friend of mine, who lives in Kumamoto.

She told me that she would take part in an English workshop today, and invited me to the workshop.
After finishing all my lessons, I called her back right away.
In fact, we hadn't talked with each other on the phone or Skype for a while, needless to say, I was thrilled to have a natter with her.
My English is so rusty as ever that I'm afraid she might have been disappointed, though, I had a great time thanks to her.

About the workshop, unfortunately I passed it up because my son's school started today and he came back at noon. In addition, I got an on-the-spot translation assignment this morning, so I couldn't go there anyhow.

I can easily imagine that the workshop is definitely getting lively by now. :) They're adroit in cultivating their friendships, so I'm looking forward to sharing the story with them soon.

The First Translation Assignment This Year

After my family came back from my parents-in-law's house, I hoped I would let my hair down. I mean I wouldn't do the housework but leave it up to my hubby.

The following day, I turned on my PC, and checked my e-mails and blog. At the time, I found that the first translation assignment had arrived. I was surprised a little bit because just after my holiday I had asked the company finished, they sent me the first assignment. I was, of course, happy to receive it, so right away I got down to it.

The assignment was more painstaking than I had expected. It took longer to complete it than usual and I was exhausted, but I felt fulfilled. :)

My first lesson this year is supposed to start tomorrow.

I've Just Come Back!

What have you been doing? How's your new year's holiday?

My family has just come back home after spending our holiday with my in-laws. I had been tied up with housework for them, but I was happy to meet them and enjoyed my holiday.

Every year I say, though, I'll push forward to expand my knowledge and career at full tilt.

Welcome 2014!

Happy New Year, Everyone!

My family and sister-in-law's have stayed at my parents-in-law's house to spend the New Year's holiday together. Today is warmer and nicer than last year, so I think this is an ideal day for visiting three shrines, or Sansha Mairi in Japanese.

I wish you all be filled with joy and happiness!
