Go Camping!

The other day my son told me that he wanted to stay the night at his friend's house. At the time, I thought that it was kind of joke. I realized, however, that it wasn't a joke when I got a text message from his friend's mother.
She said, "Spring vacation has just started, so shall I take your son to go camping with other friends?"
In fact, I was surprised to hear that, but my son and I jumped at the offer and I decided to leave him with the mother and her husband.

Eight people in total, six of them were kids and the others were adults, went camping yesterday.
This morning, they came back. My son seemed to be a little tired, but he delightedly told me about the camping.
A funny story is here: Unfortunately it was raining last night, so they decided not to have a barbecue outside. However, they started to grill food in the lodge's kitchen. Heavy smoke set off the fire alarm!

They had a spanking good time together. Next time, all the parents will have a barbecue with drinks! haha

Call to the U.S

When you go shopping, do you ever use your credit cards? Have you ever had any troubles related to your cards?
I occasionally use my card, but I've never faced any troubles so far.

I received a translation assignment a few days ago. This time, actually it was not to translate but to call overseas for inquiries. I had to call to the U.S.

When I made an international call, to the southeast Asian countries in particular, I used to be nervous. However, I'm getting used to calling overseas. It's like "Que sera sera". lol

Well, let's get back to the story. The person who asked me to call had had a trouble with his credit card. Some money was drawn from his account, so he wanted a company to restore to his account. I called the company to ask what to be needed on behalf of him.

A staff member explained the details with merciless speed, but I managed to follow her. Luckily, I got used to her natural speed at the end of our conversation. I realized that I should practice listening and speaking more.

As for the task, I finished it smoothly. Phew.....

Only 2 Members

Yesterday I went to a community center to take part in an English workshop. While getting ready to go, text messages flocked into my cell phone. They said that they couldn't participate in the yesterday's meeting because of their urgent matters.

All in all, there were only 2 of us. The number of participants was so low that some might be surprised to hear that. However, it was lucky for me because I could talk and practice speaking English to my heart's content! lol
Actually, there was no article to discuss, but we didn't have any trouble spending our time- for two hours. We talked about our futures, career paths as well as a small talk.

We and other members are supposed to take spring vacations, so we'll meet again next month.

What Kind of Present Should I Choose?

As I mentioned before, one of my students, who is a would-be pianist, passed a college of music exam. I'm delighted to hear of her success. At the same time, however, I'm missing her because her last lesson is drawing closer as well: She's going to graduate from my class.

After passing a high school entrance exam, she was wavering between being promoted to the class for high schoolers and quitting our school. In fact a fistful of junior high school students decided to try the next class. Most of the students who enrolled in our school gave up being promoted to the class because of the matter of tuition or their different interests.
After considering her future carefully, she decided to take the lessons. After all, she believed that her English skills would surely be helpful in her future.
Ever since then, we have been slogging at mastering English together.

We had an unforgettable time together during our lessons, and I know that how she had been endeavoring to improve not only her English skills but her piano skills.
When I heard of her success, I was in the seventh heaven as if I were her mother.

Now I'm thinking about a present for her...Do you have any suggestions?

To My Heart's Content!?

Whenever I have spare time on Thursdays, I try to take part in an open conversation class called "Morning Cafe". To improve my conversation skills and have an opportunity of having chat with a native English speaker, this class is indispensable for me.

This time, one of my students, who is in her 60's, and I visited the class together. It was the second time for her to take part in it. I might have told, though, it would not only be helpful but inspire her to keep learning English.
To add to that, during the class, I'm not a teacher but a participant. As such I can feel relaxed and talk in English to my heart's content. ^^

I couldn't stop talking on entering the room because recently I hadn't had enough time to practice speaking English, so I had been itching for talking. lol
We had quality time together, of course. However, when it comes to the satisfaction of my enthusiasm to talk in English, it really requires even more time.

Is It High Time to Change!?

It has been several years since I bought my current computer. I know software, operating systems and so forth are developed one after another, so actually I can't keep up with the ream of the information technology. That's why I very often face some troubles related to the computer system.

The other day I tried to sign in to Skype, but the site wouldn't open. I tried it again and again after I changed both my account and password. However, I failed.
I searched the Net for solutions, and tried them. Unfortunately, any solution didn't work.
Got me stumped...

Whenever I turn on my computer, a notice pops up on the screen-"The storage space is running short."
As such I deleted the unnecessary files every time the notice popped up. However, the space seems still almost full. In fact, I think there are still needless files, but I don't know which ones should be deleted....
Do I need to install another hard disc drive in my computer or buy a new computer?

What should I do?

Congratulations on Your Success!

Ever since I decided to brush up on my English skills, I've been blessed with fellow English-lovers. But for them, I wouldn't slog at learning English, nor land a job related to English.

I heard a good news today: One of my friends passed the 1st grade of the STEP test! I dropped in on her blog and she posted an entry about the results.
As if I could have come out on top, I was delighted at the news. I know that she had been endeavoring to pass the test. Her efforts finally came to fruition!

At the same time, her success absolutely gave me a shot in the arm. I mean that I should take not only the TOEIC but the STEP test.
Even if I could pass the test, I wouldn't be satisfied with my skills or would say "So, what?" to myself. Still, I'll give it a shot. :)
