Heavy rain, thunder and lightning woke me up in the early morning. An evacuation order has been issued for not only some areas of my city but other cities....

The rain lifted so far, but we should be on alert against heavy rain. We can't foresee what will happen!

Better Luck Next Time!

I just came back from my parents' in-law's house and checked the results of the TOEIC test I took last month.

Sticking to My PC

I'd been working on translation assignments as well as my regular English lessons. I just finished!!!!! You might think it sounded tiresome, but I enjoyed doing my bit.
The staff had asked me to take on an on-site translation assignment besides regular assignments. I had been willing to accept the offer, of course.

I had no choice but to stick to my PC to manage them, but I learned new expressions and words through them. I had been sedentary for a few days, so I absolutely need some exercise!

Anyway, I'll get back to my regular lessons.

Thinking about an English Club

Recently, I got involved in English events. After taking part in these events, I wondered if there were those kinds of events or organizations in my city. I'm sad to say something, but the answer is NO. We have an international association and some language classes, of course. However, I hardly hear about their activities in my city....

Ummmmm.... Actually, I felt there was a lack of enthusiasm for learning English in my city compared to the cities I visited this time....There might be some people who are looking for opportunities like me.

I'm wondering about setting up an event or organizing an English club though I haven't decided on the details....

Another English Event

Last Friday, as I posted, I took part in an English event. I got involved in another event yesterday afternoon.
This time it was a farewell party for exchange students from America.

I'm a member of the international association and it was the first time for me to participate in that kind of event. I'm a newcomer and was not a host family; nevertheless, other members welcomed me warmly.
When I arrived at the venue, some exchange students and their host families had been there. Upon sitting on a chair, I talked to the woman next to me. She told me that it was her first time to be a host family this time. To add to that, I had chances to have a chat with other people. At that time I got to know an escort teacher of the exchange students. She was so friendly that I felt relaxed and my timidity gradually gone away.

I didn't use to get involved in any event that there weren't my friends or acquaintances because I would feel uncomfortable during an event. I might have been too shy in front of the new people. However, I realized that I had missed opportunities to get to know new people. They might have expanded my horizons or brought me an experience I haven't done yet.

It was true that I felt uncomfortable at the beginning of the event, but I felt that I broke out of my shell or something like that. ^^

An English Event

I got involved in an English event as a volunteer yesterday. It was held in the next prefecture where I live and I had thought it wouldn't take time to get there. However, I decided to use an express way because of the bad weather and it seemed to take more time than I had expected.
It was raining cats and dogs on my way to the venue, but I didn't care because I was thrilled to meet new people.

The staff members of the event were all English teachers, so English conversation was flying here and there. This time, a native English speaker took part in it as a volunteer as well. He, my friend who is one of the members and I read English picture books for kids.

I met new people and expanded my circle of friends thanks to the event. :)
