A BBQ Party

Last Sunday, I took part in a barbeque party for the first time in several years.
It was held by some International exchange associations in my city, and the organization where I belong cooperated for the party as well. It was my first time after I had started to help foreigners learn Japanese, so I thrilled to meet new people and enjoy the party.

The weather forecast had reported that it would rain on that day, and actually it had been raining since the previous night. However, when I got to the meeting place to get on the bus, the sky was getting clear! How fantastic!
Every participant thought that the party would be postponed or canceled, but thanks to the lucky weather, we managed to hold the party.

Several people, including foreigners, were absent, but there were around fifty of us. We were devided into six groups, and prepared for the party. I was lucky enough to get to know many new people, including foreigners.
After the barbeque, we played some field games. How fun! I got some tips for my English lessons through the activities.

After coming back home, I was too exhausted to move even an inch. lol However, I felt fulfilled to my heart's content!

A Variety of Talents

My friends and I acknowledge myself as an English geek. Some might gawk at me when they see how much I am into it. In fact, it's comfortable for me to use English all day long.
In addition to English, I have an another interest-furnishings for women. Actually, I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was a student, and I used to design patterns for clothes. Now, I don't do that, but I like to coordinate outfits everyday.

When my friends' clothes and accessories catch my eye, I ask them and learn some tips for coordinating. I am lucky enough to have stylish friends.
One of them is my student's mother, who makes accessories such as pierced earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Another is a dancer and esthetician, and the other is from Malagasy. They are so fashionable that I can learn tips from them. Of course, I learn something new or something cool from other friends as well.

I really think I'm blessed with friends who have a variety of talents.

Need to Practice More

I hold an English workshop twice a month, and other English lovers and I brush up on our English skills.

Today, my friend from Bangladesh took part in our workshop as well. She speaks English fluently and wants to improve her skills, so she decided to join us. There were 9 of us today, and we caught up with each other at the beginning of the meeting.
After that, we discussed the article a member had prepared, which was about our blood types.

In Japan, we often ask or are asked our blood types. It might be a good icebreaker when we meet with each other for the first time, but I think we might be prone to caring about our blood types. In fact, there're blood type horoscopes, even snacks catering for each blood type. It might seem strange to others from overseas.

During our discussion, I enjoyed myself, of course. At the same time, however, I thought that I should study English harder.
I can speak, read and write in English without any problem, and these workshops are indispensable to me.
However, I need to learn more to achieve an advanced level. I mean only enjoying myself isn't enough. Don't get me wrong. I don't intend to push other members to "study" more together. I push "myself" only. lol
