The perilla juice

On Mondays one of my students takes my English lessons. She's in her 60's, and very often gives me her handmade stuffs such as Japanese sweets.
She said, "Baking some sweets or making dishes and doing the gardening are my interests besides learning English."

This morning she took my English lesson as usual, then gave me a few bottles of juice. They seemed green tea, but actually they were perilla juice called Shiso juice in Japanese.
She explained she usually picked the leaves turned red, but this time she had plucked green ones. I was curious to taste the juice because I had never drunk it. (I've tasted the red one before, though.)
I found amazing it was very tasty. In addition, the aroma of the perilla leaves cleared my head.

Thanks to her gift, we had a more lively English conversation than usual. Although the best season for perilla to pick was over, I'll try to make the juice by myself next time.
